Synopsis
A Regular Woman (Nur eine Frau, 2019) is a German drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Sherry Hormann. It reconstructs the life of Hatun Aynur Sürücü, a German woman of Kurdish origin shot dead at a Berlin bus stop by her youngest brother in February 2005. Almila Bağrıaçık plays Hatun.
Married off at sixteen and sent to Turkey, Hatun came back to Berlin pregnant and alone. She moved into a shelter for young mothers, enrolled in vocational school, became an electrician, stopped wearing the headscarf. Her family counted each step away from their rules. One brother decided to settle the account.
