Mutant Chronicles

Mutant Chronicles (2008) is a sci-fi action film you can watch online on iFILM. By the year 2707, Earth's resources are nearly gone and rival corporations slaughter each other for the scraps. One battle cracks an ancient seal and reawakens a buried Machine that turns living men into mutants.

The creatures overrun the surface. The wealthy flee to colonial worlds while everyone else is left to die. Humanity's last shot rests with a small squad led by Major Mitch Hunter, sent underground by an old monk to plant a device that can destroy the Machine for good. The unit brings together Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman, Devon Aoki and Sean Pertwee, with John Malkovich turning up as a corporate boss.

Director Simon Hunter shot nearly the entire thing on green screen, drenched in sepia-and-soot steampunk, adapting a Swedish tabletop game. This is a blunt genre ride that bets on grim visuals and carnage rather than plot finesse. It suits fans of scrappy, low-budget science fiction who don't mind rough edges.
