About

Synopsis

Steak (2007) is a Franco-Canadian absurdist comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Quentin Dupieux — better known as electronic musician Mr. Oizo — made this film for fans of Éric Judor and Ramzy Bedia, the duo behind the French sketch series "H." Set in a near-future 2016 where cosmetic surgery has become a casual teenage pastime, faces are swapped as casually as clothes.

Blaise gets out of a psychiatric hospital to find his childhood friend George has fallen in with the Chivers — a slick, milk-drinking gang with red jackets, violent games, and no obvious purpose. Getting George out means Blaise has to navigate mistaken identities, creditors, furious wives, private detectives, and police, often simultaneously.

Dupieux made this before Rubber and the rest of his catalog, but the approach is already fully formed: plot is beside the point, logic is optional, and the film trusts you to find the joke. It is a narrow audience — but for that audience, this is exactly the film. Stream Steak online on iFILM.
