Mac and Me

Mac and Me (1988) is a family sci-fi adventure you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Stewart Raffill and starring Jade Calegory alongside Christine Ebersole and Jonathan Ward. It follows a small alien — MAC, short for Mysterious Alien Creature — separated from his family and hiding on Earth while NASA closes in.

Eric, a boy in a wheelchair, finds MAC and decides to help him. The two of them are outsiders in similar ways, which gives the film its one genuinely warm idea. The rest involves suburban chase sequences, a running cameo from McDonald's that long ago became the movie's most-discussed feature, and an ending that leaves the door wide open for a sequel that never came.

Released six years after E.T. and clearly aimed at the same audience, Mac and Me landed differently than intended — it has since become a cult object studied more for its aggressive product placement than its storytelling.
