Synopsis
Nadja (1995) — watch it online on iFILM — is a black-and-white indie horror directed by Michael Almereyda and produced by David Lynch, who also appears in a brief cameo. Elina Löwensohn plays Nadja, Dracula's daughter, quietly existing in contemporary New York until an encounter she doesn't plan on changes everything. Peter Fonda plays Van Helsing; Jared Harris and Martin Donovan round out the dysfunctional undead family.
Shot partly on grainy Super 8, the film uses the vampire myth as a frame for something quieter: displacement, obsession, and the weight of inherited identity. It's a downtown New York art film that happens to have fangs — closer to Jim Jarmusch than to genre horror. Stream Nadja (1995) online on iFILM.
