Apartment 7A (2024) is an American horror prequel to Rosemary's Baby — watch it online on iFILM. Director Natalie Erika James sets the story in 1965 New York: struggling dancer Terry Gionoffrio (Julia Garner) collapses on the street after one more failed audition and wakes up in the elegant apartment of Roman and Minnie Castevet (Diane Wiest and Kevin McNally). The elderly couple offer her a place to stay. Suddenly, her career starts moving.

The tagline says Rosemary was not the first, and the film earns that setup. Garner plays Terry as someone who simply wants one thing to go right — and that wanting is exactly what makes her a target. Wiest is warm in a way that never quite settles. James keeps the dread low and slow, the kind that builds in the gap between what you see and what you start to suspect.
