Safety (2020) is a Disney sports drama based on a true story — watch online on iFILM. Directed by Reginald Hudlin, the film follows Ray-Ray McElrathbey, a freshman safety for Clemson University who secretly moved his younger brother into the campus dorms after their home situation fell apart completely.

Ray came to college to play football. What he didn't sign up for was hiding a child from the university administration while keeping up with practice, classes and the pressure of being a scholarship athlete. Jay Reiss plays him without a trace of self-pity — the weight is there, but so is the stubborn determination. Amanda Warren and James Badge Dale round out a cast that keeps the story grounded in specifics rather than sentimentality.
