Shining Vale (2022) is a horror-comedy series you can watch online on iFILM. A dysfunctional family leaves the city for a quiet suburb and a house where something terrible once happened — and only Pat seems to feel it.

Pat Phelps once wrote a scandalous bestseller; now she can't get a word down, has cheated on her husband, and is quietly coming apart in the suburbs. In the new house a woman in a 1950s dress starts following her around — ghost or symptom, nobody can tell. That's the gag the show keeps prodding: depression and possession, as Pat herself points out, look exactly the same. Her husband Terry (Greg Kinnear) and the kids blame her nerves while the house keeps pulling her deeper.

Courteney Cox plays it as a pitch-black comedy about motherhood, marriage and a stalled career, with the horror standing in for burnout. Mira Sorvino, Judith Light and Sherilyn Fenn round out the cast. It's for viewers who like funny and frightening pressed right up against each other, with neither one winning.
