Synopsis
Mater Private Eye (2010) is a five-minute Pixar short from the Mater's Tall Tales series, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Director Rob Gibbs drops a rusty tow truck into a black-and-white noir and lets him play detective.
A girl named Mia vanishes in a rain-soaked city, and the only car who'll take the case is Mater in a fedora and trench coat. The trail runs straight to a crime boss's club, with loyal Lightning McQueen riding shotgun as his partner. The whole short spoofs old-school detective noir — venetian-blind shadows, growling voiceover, femmes fatales on four wheels.
