Synopsis
The Chipmunk Adventure (1987) is an animated family musical you can watch online on iFILM. Alvin, Simon and Theodore make a bet against the Chipettes — Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor — over who can circle the globe first by hot air balloon. The prize: a hundred thousand dollars.
The catch is that the race is a setup. Two adult crooks dress a diamond-smuggling run up as a harmless wager and use the kids as unwitting couriers, stashing the gems aboard the balloons. The two teams tear across continents, break into a song at nearly every stop, and have no idea what they've been pulled into. Janice Karman, who both directed and voiced the Chipettes, packs the 77 minutes with numbers and chases; Ross Bagdasarian Jr. carries the franchise his father created, and the voice cast slips in Frank Welker, Nancy Cartwright and the legendary Mel Blanc.
