Our Hospitality

Our Hospitality (1923) is a silent comedy you can watch online on iFILM, co-directed by and starring Buster Keaton alongside Joe Roberts and Natalie Talmadge. Willie McKay travels south by train to claim a house he's inherited. He arrives into a generations-old blood feud — and his hosts are the very family sworn to kill him.

There's one catch: Southern hospitality forbids harming a man under your own roof. Keaton wrings 73 minutes of escalating invention from that single premise, keeping his character permanently one doorstep away from a bullet. The waterfall stunt in the final act — performed by Keaton himself — remains one of the most physically daring shots of the silent era.
