Synopsis
Girls5eva (2021) is a musical comedy you can watch online on iFILM. A girl group that scored exactly one hit back in the late '90s gets an unexpected jolt: a young rapper samples their forgotten song, and suddenly Girls5eva is everywhere again.
Four grown women decide the dream isn't past its sell-by date. Trouble is, between rehearsals there are mortgages, teenagers, aging parents, a stubborn shoulder and marriages that need patching. Sara Bareilles, Busy Philipps, Paula Pell and Renée Elise Goldsberry play the quartet — squabbling over decades-old grudges one minute, cooking up gloriously dumb earworms the next.
The show comes out of Tina Fey's stable, and it shows: jokes packed tight, sharp satire of the early-2000s pop machine, and original songs that lodge in your skull for days.
