Synopsis
Jesus Camp (2006) is an Oscar-nominated documentary directed by Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing — watch it online on iFILM. The filmmakers spent weeks embedded at a Pentecostal summer camp in North Dakota called Kids on Fire, where children as young as seven are trained to speak in tongues, wage spiritual warfare, and pray over a cardboard cutout of George W. Bush.
Pastor Becky Fischer runs the camp with total conviction. Radio host Mike Papantonio provides the skeptical counterpoint, but the film itself doesn't editorialize — it just keeps the camera running. The children pray until they cry. Some seem genuinely moved; others look exhausted. The discomfort is left entirely to the viewer.
Grady and Ewing landed an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature, and the film still surfaces whenever the conversation turns to evangelical politics and the formation of young believers. Stream Jesus Camp (2006) online on iFILM.
