My Science Project (1985) is an American sci-fi comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Slacker high-schooler Michael Harlan gets an ultimatum from his teacher: hand in a science project or repeat the year.

Desperate for any gadget worth showing off, Mike raids a junk pile on an abandoned military base and hauls home a strange glowing device. It turns out to be an alien generator that tears holes in time itself. Once it powers up, the school and the whole surrounding town start lurching between the age of dinosaurs, a scorched future, and a free-for-all with Roman legionaries and gangsters at once. Mike and his friends get a single chaotic night to shut it all down.

This is the eighties distilled: teenagers, neon-soaked effects, and a sincere faith that any disaster can be fixed with a screwdriver. Dennis Hopper steals every scene as a stoned hippie science teacher, while Fisher Stevens supplies the wisecracks. Inessential but endearing — catnip for retro sci-fi fans.
