Synopsis

Last Days in the Desert (2016) is an American drama directed by Rodrigo Garcia — watch it online on iFILM. Ewan McGregor plays two roles: Jesus, nearing the end of forty days of fasting in the wilderness, and the Devil who shadows him every mile of the way.

A father (Ciaran Hinds), his dying wife (Ayelet Zurer), and their restless son (Tye Sheridan) live alone at the desert's edge, each wanting something the others cannot give. The Devil frames it as a test: fix this family, or I will fix it for you. The terms are left deliberately unresolved.

Shot by Emmanuel Lubezki, the film turns the Judean desert into a space that feels more psychological than geographical. Garcia is not interested in miracles — he is interested in the weight of choice, and what it costs to carry both divine purpose and human doubt in the same body.
