Deadly Class (Season 1)

Deadly Class (2019) — watch the full series online on iFILM, Syfy's dark action drama based on Rick Remender's comic run. A homeless teenager, Marcus Lopez (Benjamin Wadsworth), gets recruited into King's Dominion, an elite school where the children of the world's most dangerous crime families learn their parents' trade. The curriculum is murder. The social cliques are lethal.

Marcus is the only student who doesn't belong there by bloodline. Benedict Wong plays the school's cold-eyed headmaster, Lana Condor is the classmate Marcus gravitates toward, and the cast fills out with heirs to cartels, yakuza operations, and street gangs who all have their own reasons to be dangerous. The year is 1987, and the show wears it — synth-pop, punk aesthetics, a visual language lifted almost directly from the source material.

The series ran for one season of ten episodes before Syfy cancelled it, which is the main caveat here. What you do get is tightly paced, visually inventive, and sharper in tone than most YA-adjacent action shows. Stream Deadly Class (2019) online on iFILM.
