Set eleven years after The Real Ghostbusters called it a day, the sequel finds New York's paranormal activity at a standstill and the original team long gone. Only Egon Spengler stayed, teaching a Paranormal Studies course at the local university while Slimer keeps the old firehouse company.

A subway construction crew breaks through the wrong wall. The demon Achira is loose — and she wasn't sealed underground alone. Desperate for a team, Egon recruits the only four students who enrolled in his class: Kylie, a goth with encyclopedic occult knowledge; Eduardo, a laid-back slacker; Garrett, a hot-tempered wheelchair athlete; and Roland, the mechanical genius of the group. Janine Melnitz returns as team secretary. The voice cast — Tara Strong, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, Alfonso Ribeiro — is strong, and the tone runs noticeably darker than the original series.
