Synopsis
Long Day's Journey Into Night (地球最后的夜晚, 2018) is a Chinese mystery drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Bi Gan. Luo Hongwu travels back to the southern town of Kaili after his father dies. He left twelve years ago. A woman he loved — and never quite stopped — stayed behind in his memory, rearranging things.
Bi Gan treats the past as a physical layer that bleeds through the present. Luo drifts through streets, gambling dens and fog-wrapped hills, and the line between what happened and what he dreams keeps dissolving. In the film's second half, the screen switches to 3D and the camera follows him into a single unbroken one-hour take — a long, slow fall into a dreamed version of what might have been.
