Synopsis
Electroma (2006) is a near-wordless sci-fi drama directed by Daft Punk, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Somewhere in the California desert, two robots set out to become human.
They pull on silicone masks of human faces and drive the empty highways toward a dream that quietly curdles into a sentence. Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo didn't make a music video or a conventional film — this is a slow visual poem: long static takes, barely any plot, not a single line of dialogue, and a soundtrack that pointedly holds zero Daft Punk tracks. It screened at Cannes, and audiences split cleanly between those who walk out bored and those the ending guts. If you go for atmospheric, meditative cinema where you assemble the meaning yourself, this is your screening. Stream Electroma (2006) online on iFILM.
