Synopsis
Queen of Spades: The Dark Rite (2015) is a Russian horror film from Svyatoslav Podgaevsky that you can watch online on iFILM. Draw a door and a staircase on a fogged mirror, say her name three times in the dark, and she answers.
Four teenagers try the summoning as a joke. Folklore says a mirror is a doorway to the dead, and the Queen of Spades feeds on reflections, snips locks of hair from sleepers and drives mad anyone who sees her. The dare stops being funny when one of them suddenly drops dead. From there the vengeful spirit won't rest until she has all four souls — and the people closest to them pay the price too.
This was Podgaevsky's feature debut, the film that more or less rebooted Russian horror around local urban legend instead of Western copies. The scares come from silence, mirrors and a sing-song children's rhyme, not from gore. A solid, genuinely creepy pick for a genre-fan's evening. Stream Queen of Spades: The Dark Rite online on iFILM.
