Synopsis
Moonwalkers (2015) is a French black comedy directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet — watch it online on iFILM. The film stars Ron Perlman and Rupert Grint and runs with one of the more entertaining conspiracy theories around: what if NASA, hedging its bets before the Apollo 11 launch, secretly hired Stanley Kubrick to shoot a fake moon landing in a studio?
CIA operative Tommy (Perlman), still rattled from Vietnam, is sent to swinging sixties London to track Kubrick down and cut a deal. He never finds Kubrick. Instead he collides with Johnny (Grint), a small-time con man managing a hopeless rock band, who figures he can pocket the agency money by casting some random filmmaker and passing him off as the real thing. The shoot ends up on the lot of a porn studio, with the moon achieved through creative lighting and a reliable supply of hashish.
Antoine Bardou-Jacquet came up directing music videos and commercials, and the film moves with that kind of jittery, stylized energy — funny in stretches, then abruptly violent in ways that feel genuine rather than tacked on. Stream Moonwalkers (2015) online on iFILM.
