Swing Girls

Swing Girls (2004) is a Japanese music comedy you can watch online on iFILM. A pack of slacker schoolgirls accidentally food-poisons their school brass band and ends up having to play the gig itself.

It all starts with a math class nobody wants to sit through. To dodge summer remedial lessons, Tomoko and her friends volunteer to carry lunches out to the baseball team — and flatten the entire band with a batch of spoiled boxed meals. With no one left to perform, the girls grab instruments they have never touched and stumble their way toward big-band jazz, squeaky first notes and all.

Director Shinobu Yaguchi has a knack for misfits who become a team against the odds, and Juri Ueno carries the whole thing on sheer charm.
