The Crawling Eye
The nightmare terror of the slithering eye that unleashed agonizing horror on a screaming world!
Synopsis
The Crawling Eye (The Trollenberg Terror, 1958) is a black-and-white British sci-fi horror you can watch online on iFILM. Quentin Lawrence directs, with Forrest Tucker and Janet Munro heading the cast through 84 minutes of old-school dread set high in the Swiss Alps.
UN investigator Alan Brooks travels to the observatory on Mount Trollenberg, where climbers keep vanishing one by one. Along the way he meets two sisters, and the younger one — a clairvoyant — feels herself drawn toward the peak for reasons she can't explain. A patch of radioactive mist clings to the mountain's south face, refusing to lift in wind or sun. Whatever waits inside it gives the movie its American nickname: a crawling, tentacled eye.
Adapted from a British television serial, the film became a small landmark of cheap, atmospheric Cold War horror. It's still a favorite among retro sci-fi fans and the "so bad it's good" crowd. Stream The Crawling Eye (1958) online on iFILM.
