Bride of Frankenstein
More fearful than the monster himself!
Synopsis
Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is a landmark horror film you can watch online on iFILM. Director James Whale picks up exactly where his own Frankenstein left off — the doctor and his creature are both still breathing, and neither is done with the other. Boris Karloff is back as the Monster, Colin Clive as the haunted scientist who made him.
Frankenstein wants out. He's finished with the lab, finished with playing god. But his wife is taken hostage by the Monster, who has one demand: make him a companion. Coerced by the sinister Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger), Frankenstein goes back to work. Whale threads in an unexpected strand — a sequence where the Monster bonds with a blind hermit — that turns the film into something stranger and more humane than the average genre entry of its era.
What Whale understood was that horror lands harder when the audience feels something for the creature being feared. This 1935 Universal production brought wit and genuine pathos to the monster movie, qualities that feel just as deliberate today. Stream Bride of Frankenstein (1935) online on iFILM.
