Pirates

Pirates (1986) is a swashbuckling comedy from Roman Polanski you can watch online on iFILM. Walter Matthau plays the grizzled buccaneer Captain Red, and alongside his young sidekick Frog (Cris Campion) he's drifting on a raft in the middle of the ocean when a Spanish galleon hauls them aboard — and its cargo happens to be a golden Aztec throne.

Red has no intention of leaving empty-handed. The two castaways talk their way into the crew's confidence and then set about engineering a full-scale mutiny. Polanski shot the film largely on Malta and aboard a full-size period sailing ship — the Neptune — built from scratch for the production.

This is piracy as farce rather than legend. Matthau in a wig, a peg leg and a permanent scowl carries the whole thing on his shoulders, and the physical comedy lands well enough to forgive the film its rough edges. Watch Pirates (1986) online on iFILM.
