Synopsis
Tanu Weds Manu: Returns (2015) is a Hindi rom-com you can watch online on iFILM. Directed by Aanand L. Rai, it picks up the couple from the first film four years into a marriage that has curdled into nonstop bickering.
Tanu and Manu are living in England, and things fall apart fast. Manu ends up committed to a psychiatric clinic; Tanu walks out and heads home to her parents in India. Then comes the twist. Back in Delhi, Manu crosses paths with Datto, a Haryanvi athlete who is the spitting image of his wife. Kangana Ranaut plays both women — the volatile Tanu and the blunt, no-nonsense Datto — and the dual turn swept the year's acting awards.
Madhavan plays the bewildered Manu, with Jimmy Shergill once again left out in the cold as the man who loses the girl. The laughs come less from gags than from grown adults who simply cannot talk to each other. Breezy and sharp, it suits anyone who likes Bollywood comedy without the syrup.
