Synopsis
The Big Bounce (2004) is a sun-drenched crime comedy adapted from Elmore Leonard's novel — watch it online on iFILM, directed by George Armitage. Owen Wilson plays Jack Ryan, a small-time grifter coasting through Hawaii on surf, sea and other people's wallets.
His comfortable drift ends when a developer's girlfriend, Nancy, pitches him a job: two hundred thousand dollars sitting in her boyfriend's safe, split evenly if they move fast. Jack starts running the angles and finds there are too many people already running theirs — including a local judge played by Morgan Freeman who seems to know exactly what's coming. Gary Sinise, Charlie Sheen and Willie Nelson round out a cast that seems to be enjoying the location as much as the script.
Leonard's plots reward patience: what looks like a simple grab turns into something with a few more moving parts. Lightweight by design, but sharper than it lets on. Stream The Big Bounce (2004) on iFILM.
