Synopsis
Sebastian (2024) is Mikko Mäkelä's drama you can watch online on iFILM. Max is a 25-year-old freelance writer in London, building a reputation by day and chasing his first novel. After dark he becomes Sebastian, taking clients through an escorting app and turning each encounter into pages.
The research starts to swallow the writer. What began as material for a book becomes a second self that Max can't quite switch off. Ruaridh Mollica carries the film as both halves of one young man, with Hiftu Quasem, Jonathan Hyde and Ingvar Eggert Sigurðsson around him. It's a quiet, unsentimental look at how the hunger for an authentic story can hollow out the person living it. One for fans of slow-burn queer drama that refuses easy answers.
