Synopsis
Liberty Stands Still (2002) is a crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Liberty Wallace is the heir and marketing face of one of the country's largest gun manufacturers, and she's spent years staying comfortably indifferent to what her family firm sells.
That ends in the middle of a busy plaza. A sniper calling himself Joe chains her to a vendor's food cart packed with explosives and keeps her in his crosshairs from a window across the street. His young daughter was killed by a gun her husband's company made. Liberty has to follow his orders over the phone, stall for time, and keep bystanders alive, knowing one wrong move ends it. Linda Fiorentino plays her on a knife's edge, Wesley Snipes is the voice in her ear, and Oliver Platt scrambles as a negotiator.
Director Kari Skogland keeps almost the entire film pinned to a single intersection, and the claustrophobia does the heavy lifting instead of pyrotechnics. It's a blunt, talky standoff built around the human cost of the gun trade. Stream Liberty Stands Still (2002) online on iFILM.
