Blackway

Blackway (2015) is an American thriller directed by Daniel Alfredson — watch it online on iFILM. Lillian comes back to her small wilderness town and immediately draws the attention of Blackway, an ex-cop turned local predator who runs the community through fear. The sheriff's advice: leave. She doesn't.

Instead she finds two unlikely allies — aging ex-logger Lester (Anthony Hopkins) and his quiet young sidekick (Alexander Ludwig). Ray Liotta plays Blackway mostly off-screen, which turns out to be a smart call: the film builds dread through what people say about him rather than what he does on camera. Hal Holbrook appears briefly and makes the most of it.

This is a slow-burn noir set against dense forest rather than city streets. Expect mood, not car chases. Hopkins brings a lived-in calm that's more interesting than most action heroes — the three of them walking toward trouble with no backup is the whole film, and it works on those terms.
