Synopsis
Jack's Back (1988) is a detective thriller you can watch online on iFILM, built around an early, twin-role turn from James Spader. A century after the Whitechapel murders, a copycat is working the streets of Los Angeles, recreating the original killer's signature down to the smallest detail.
John Wesford, a young doctor at a free clinic, falls under suspicion as bodies pile up near him. Then he turns up dead too. His identical twin steps into the case, haunted by visions that show him the real murderer's face. Spader carries both parts — the soft-spoken physician and his rougher, sharper brother — and the film leans hard on doubles, misdirection and slow-building paranoia. Rowdy Herrington directs.
This came before Spader broke through, and it plays today like a showcase for the screen manner he'd later spread across dozens of roles. It's a lean, low-budget noir sitting halfway between detective story and horror, and it works best for viewers who want a killer with a puzzle attached rather than wall-to-wall gore.
