Abducted in Plain Sight
Every parent's worst nightmare.
Synopsis
Abducted in Plain Sight (2017) is an American true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Skye Borgman. It follows the Broberg family of Idaho and the man who abducted their teenage daughter Jan — not once, but twice.
Robert Berchtold was the family's trusted neighbour, a friend to both parents and godfather to their children. The film is built almost entirely on interviews with Jan Broberg and her parents Bob and Mary Ann, who recount how Berchtold systematically dismantled their judgment over months before he struck. The Brobergs speak openly about choices they made, and that candour is what makes the documentary hard to shake — this isn't a monster story with clear villains, it's a study in how manipulation works on ordinary, well-meaning people.
After it landed on Netflix the film went viral, with viewers struggling to process that what they were watching was real. Stream Abducted in Plain Sight (2017) online on iFILM.
