Synopsis
Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart (2026) is a true-crime documentary you can watch online on iFILM. One June night in 2002, a fourteen-year-old vanished from her bedroom in a house near Salt Lake City. The search would drag on for nine months.
Smart tells the story of her abduction herself, and director Benedict Sanderson builds the film around her account, weaving in archive footage and material that hasn't been seen before. The people who worked the case and covered it appear on camera too, among them journalists Soledad O'Brien and Katie Couric. Rather than dwelling on the cruelty of captors Brian David Mitchell and Wanda Barzee, the documentary stays with how a teenager survived months in captivity and found her way home. It's a hard watch, but an honest one about a case that gripped the whole country. Stream Kidnapped: Elizabeth Smart online on iFILM.
