Synopsis
Fidelity (La Fidélité, 2000) is a French drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Polish filmmaker Andrzej Żuławski. Running close to three hours, it moves Madame de Lafayette's 17th-century novel "La Princesse de Clèves" into the Paris tabloid world, with Sophie Marceau and Guillaume Canet leading.
Clélia is a photographer working for a powerful media mogul with a long history involving her family. Her editor Clève (Pascal Greggory) proposed knowing what it cost him — he walked away from a profitable alliance for her. She respects that. Whether she loves him is another question. Then Nemo, a brash young paparazzo, walks into her newsroom.
Żuławski, best known for Possession, ran high emotional temperatures throughout his career, and this film holds to that. Marceau keeps it from tipping into hysteria — her Clélia keeps choosing, even when there's no clean choice left. Stream Fidelity (2000) online on iFILM.
