Synopsis
On the Silver Globe (1989) is Andrzej Żuławski's Polish science-fiction epic, now available to watch online on iFILM. Three survivors of a crash-landing on a distant world set out to seed a brand-new human race far from home.
Cut off from Earth, Marta, Piotr and Jerzy raise children by the sea, and within a single generation their descendants slide back into tribal myth and worship a god of their own making. Żuławski shot most of the film in the late 1970s before Poland's authorities shut the production down near the finish line. A decade on he assembled what footage existed, narrating the missing scenes himself over images of modern Warsaw.
This is demanding cinema — handheld chaos, actors pushed to a screaming pitch, dense talk of faith and power. It asks for patience and gives nothing to a casual glance. Few cult films carry a backstory this strange. Stream On the Silver Globe (1989) online on iFILM.
