Black Tide

Black Tide (Fleuve noir, 2018) is a French psychological thriller directed by Erick Zonca — watch online on iFILM. Vincent Cassel plays Commissioner Visconti, a detective whose drinking is as reliable as his instincts. A teenage boy vanishes from a small town, the case drops on his desk, and the usual suspects line up: a mother with secrets, a father with fists and few words.

Then a schoolteacher named Bellale, played by Romain Duris, walks into the station and volunteers to help find the boy. Visconti doesn't buy it. He can't prove anything either. So the investigation splits in two directions at once — find the missing kid, and figure out why this quiet, helpful man keeps appearing exactly where he shouldn't.

Zonca builds the film around the friction between Cassel's weathered aggression and Duris's studied calm. It's a slow-burn that earns its tension rather than manufacturing it through editing.
