Casshern

Casshern (2004) is a Japanese sci-fi action film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by music-video veteran Kazuaki Kiriya and based on the 1973 anime series of the same name. Yusuke Iseya and Kumiko Aso lead the cast.

In a war-ravaged future Eurasia, geneticist Dr. Azuma wins government backing to grow replacement body parts for a dying population. The experiment breaks containment: the lab-grown bodies come alive and turn on their creators. Azuma's son Tetsuya — killed in battle and accidentally resurrected in the same lab — wakes up encased in an near-indestructible combat suit. He becomes humanity's only answer to a manufactured army that his own father unleashed.

Kiriya shoots the whole thing like an extended music video: hyper-stylized imagery, constantly shifting color palettes, a deliberately operatic scale that prioritizes the frame over the edit.
