Synopsis
Sole a catinelle (2013) — watch online on iFILM — is an Italian road comedy directed by Gennaro Nunziante and built around Checco Zalone, the country's biggest comedy draw of the past two decades. The premise is stripped down: a father and his young son travel from the south of Italy to the north. What happens along the way is the whole film.
Zalone plays a well-meaning but chronically clueless dad who can't quite figure out how to be impressive to his kid. The road hands them the usual parade of strangers and wrong turns, but the film keeps circling back to the gap between the father the man wants to be and the one the boy actually has. Marco Paolini and Miriam Dalmazio round out the cast of characters they pick up along the route.
