Center of My World (Die Mitte der Welt, 2016) is an Austrian-German coming-of-age drama directed by Jakob M. Erwa — watch it online on iFILM. Seventeen-year-old Phil comes home from summer camp to find his mother and twin sister no longer speaking. Nobody explains why. Something shifted while he was gone, and the house feels different.
Phil sidesteps the family tension by spending his days with his best friend Kat. Then a new student named Nicholas shows up at school, and Phil can't quite look away. Louis Hofmann plays the pull of that attraction alongside the slow-building unease at home, and Jannik Schümann brings enough ambiguity to Nicholas that the mutual feeling, when it comes, lands as genuine surprise rather than formula.
Erwa keeps the film quiet — no speeches, no tidy resolutions. The family mystery and Phil's first love sit alongside each other without one solving the other. That restraint is what makes it worth watching. Stream Center of My World (2016) on iFILM.
