Synopsis
5 Days of War (2011) is a war drama you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Renny Harlin and set during the brief but bloody August 2008 fighting between Georgia and Russia. Rupert Friend plays Thomas Anders, an American combat journalist who flies in just as the first strikes hit. His cameraman is barely alive from a previous assignment. They go in anyway.
When they pull a young Georgian schoolteacher named Tatia (Emmanuelle Chriqui) out of a village under attack, the mission shifts: get her home, get the footage out. Andy Garcia appears as Georgia's president; Val Kilmer turns up as a veteran correspondent. The film moves through checkpoints, airstrikes, and roadside killings — following the chaos from the reporters' vantage point rather than from a command room.
Harlin shot on location in Georgia and the action sequences hold up technically. What the film does well is its insistence that this was a story the news cycle largely missed. For a conflict that lasted under a week and shaped the next decade of European security, fictional accounts remain rare — which makes this one worth watching as a record of what that week felt like on the ground.
