Synopsis
Gold Run (Gulltransporten, 2022) is a Norwegian wartime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. It retells a real episode from the spring of 1940: as German forces pour into Norway, the country's entire gold reserve has to vanish before they reach it.
Our way in is Fredrik, a mild bank clerk who is nobody's idea of a hero (Jon Øigarden). The job lands on him anyway — move tons of gold bars out of the invaders' path. The route runs over broken roads, across water and along the rail lines, through ambushes and air raids, with every stop a possible dead end.
Director Hallvard Bræin keeps it as a tense road drama about ordinary people carrying a nation's future on their backs — no capes-and-costumes heroics, just exhaustion, fear and stubborn nerve.
