Three Catholic priests, three careers, one shared secret. Lisowski is climbing the church hierarchy in a big city, eyes fixed on Rome. Mordowicz, the archbishop, uses political connections to fund his ambitions and has long stopped pretending otherwise. Trybus is a parish priest slowly losing the battle with his own vices. Years ago a tragedy bound them together. They meet annually to mark their survival. Then new events force their paths to cross again — and this time there's no quiet way out.

Smarzowski made a film with no interest in being diplomatic about its subject. This isn't a polemic about faith but a close-up of people who've turned a position of trust into a shield.
