Synopsis
A Beautiful Planet (2016) is a 45-minute IMAX documentary you can watch online on iFILM, made in cooperation with NASA using footage shot by crews aboard the International Space Station. Director Toni Myers assembled months of material captured by astronauts Scott Kelly and Samantha Cristoforetti. Jennifer Lawrence narrates.
The camera looks down. Tropical cyclones spin slow and wide. The Himalayas catch the first light of dawn. City grids glow white at night — Tokyo, London, the Nile Delta. Then the glacier footage arrives, visibly thinner than a decade ago, forests lighter at the edges. Myers makes no editorial argument; she just sets the images side by side.
