About
Synopsis
Robinson Crusoe (2003) is a French-Canadian TV adaptation of Daniel Defoe's classic novel, available to watch online on iFILM. Director Thierry Chabert cast Pierre Richard — a comedian widely associated with French farce — in the title role, and the gamble pays off.
The story is the familiar one: a shipwreck leaves Crusoe stranded on an uninhabited island near the mouth of the Orinoco River, alone for twenty-eight years. The long running time of 205 minutes gives the isolation room to breathe — each shelter built, each season survived, each small invention earns its place on screen.
Richard plays it straight and serious. It's a family film, but not a light one. Stream Robinson Crusoe (2003) online on iFILM.
