Synopsis
Turning Tide (En solitaire, 2013) is a French adventure drama starring François Cluzet — watch it online on iFILM. Yann Madec steps in for his injured friend at the last hour to sail the Vendée Globe, the nonstop solo race around the world with no ports and no shortcuts.
He leads nine days in. Then, off the Cape Verde coast, he finds a teenage stowaway named Moussa hidden in the hold. Under Vendée Globe rules, any outside assistance means immediate disqualification — and a boy on board counts. Yann has to decide whether to turn back and hand Moussa to authorities, or keep him hidden and race on. Samy Seghir plays Moussa without a trace of pity-bait, and the tension between the two builds slowly across weeks of open water with nowhere to look away. Virginie Efira and Guillaume Canet handle the shore side of the story.
The film was shot on actual racing yachts in real Atlantic conditions, and that physical reality comes through in every rough-weather sequence. It earns its emotional payoff. Stream Turning Tide (2013) online on iFILM.
