Synopsis
Grotesque (グロテスク, 2009) is a Japanese extreme horror film directed by Koji Shiraishi that you can watch online on iFILM. Two young strangers, barely acquainted, are taken off the street by an unnamed doctor. He has surgical skill, unlimited resources, and no restraint of any kind.
His interest isn't in killing. He runs his captives through a deliberate, repeating cycle — granting them small chances to survive, then resetting the terms. Shiraishi shot the film in the tradition of Japanese "guro," a genre built on physical directness rather than suspense or dread. Hiroaki Kawatsure plays the doctor as a blank: no backstory, no explanation, no motive the film bothers to supply.
