Synopsis

Jacques runs a smoke-stained dive for a handful of regular drinkers and is quietly finishing himself off. His heart is failing, and there's no one to leave the place to. In a hospital ward he crosses paths with Lucas — gentle, lost, done with life — and takes him on as an apprentice under the bar's harsh house rules: no new customers, no getting close to the ones you have, and absolutely no women. Lucas learns fast, until a runaway named April turns up at the door and he refuses to put her back on the street.
A Denmark–France–Iceland–US co-production, the film leans entirely on the Cox-Dano pairing — two solitary men rubbing each other raw and slowly fitting together.
