Synopsis
Nathan for You (2013), Season 1 is the Comedy Central deadpan docu-comedy you can watch online on iFILM — eight episodes that hand real small businesses the worst best advice they will ever get. Nathan Fielder, armed with a business degree and zero shame, walks in promising to fix their numbers.
The plans sound like strategy and play out like slow-motion disasters. A frozen yogurt shop rolls out a deliberately disgusting flavor, a pizzeria stakes its name on a delivery guarantee it cannot keep, and a struggling clothing store lets attractive shoplifters walk out for free. Across the run you get a haunted house engineered to be too terrifying, a funeral home in trouble, a diner advertising its bathrooms, and a department-store Santa with a secret. The cameras barely flinch. The shopkeepers are real, their confusion is real, and the comedy lives entirely in the gap between Nathan's pitch and what actually happens.
Fielder plays a version of himself so awkward and literal that every idea gets pushed to its breaking point, ending with a genuinely unhinged escape stunt. Nathan puts a private investigator to the test by allowing himself to be spied on for a day, a taxi company is brought a solution for shy customers, and Nathan is forced to include product placement in his show.
