Synopsis
Nathan for You (2013), Season 3 brings Comedy Central's straight-faced consultant back for eight more episodes you can watch online on iFILM, with the schemes drifting further from marketing and closer to pure performance art. Real businesses, real customers, plans no sane advisor would sign off on.
It opens with a tiny electronics store going to war against a retail giant, then spirals into a ranch built for overweight riders, a bogus fitness craze called The Movement that secretly supplies free labor to a moving company, and a 24-hour antique shop rigged around a "you break it, you buy it" trap. The high point is Smokers Allowed: to legally let people smoke in a bar, Nathan reframes the night as a theatrical play, then painstakingly restages every customer's words with actors. Plenty of viewers rank that half hour among the finest things ever aired.
By this season the show cares less about profit and more about loneliness, awkwardness, and the strange effort of trying to be decent. The finale, in which he tries to turn an ordinary man into a humanitarian hero, plays almost like drama. Stream Nathan for You Season 3 online on iFILM.
