Synopsis
Jupiter's Moon (Jupiter holdja, 2017) is Kornél Mundruczó's sci-fi drama, available to watch online on iFILM. A young Syrian named Aryan is gunned down at the Hungarian border. He survives — and finds he can lift off the ground and float.
At the refugee camp a jaded doctor, Stern (Merab Ninidze), discovers the gift and treats it as a payday, charging wealthy clients to witness the miracle. Their uneasy partnership keeps shifting under them: the police are closing in, the city is jumpy after a terror attack, and Aryan's ability gets harder to file under anything earthly. Mundruczó stages several of the levitations as unbroken takes, the camera spinning a full 360 degrees around his weightless body.
The director, an Un Certain Regard winner at Cannes for White God, threads the migrant crisis through a story about faith and the impossible, refusing tidy conclusions. It's slow, visually audacious arthouse cinema for viewers ready to meet a festival film on its own terms. Stream Jupiter's Moon (2017) online on iFILM.
